Tuition Assistance is offered to students in grades 7-12Ramona Convent Secondary School is committed to quality Catholic education and strives to offer a Ramona opportunity to all qualified students. In 2009-2010, $300,000 in tuition assistance and scholarships were awarded to 115 students; approximately 30% of our student body received some type of grant that ranged from $1000 to $4400. All students who have applied at Ramona Convent Secondary School may be eligible for tuition assistance in the following programs: · Merit Awards Students will be notified of Merit Awards at the time of their acceptance to Ramona; no application form is needed and financial need is not required. Awards to incoming freshmen are based on the following: o Test Scores: 7th and 8th grade standardized test scores and/or High School Placement Test scores at or above the 90th national percentile ranking in both Mathematics and Language Arts o Grade Point Average: 3.5 GPA or above in academic subjects in 7th and 8th grades o Excellent conduct, attendance, and effort records in 7th and 8th grades o Excellent recommendations o Merit awards may be renewed annually depending on academic and citizenship records. · Need-based Scholarships are awarded to students in grades 7-12 based on the following criteria: o Financial need o Scholastic achievement o School or community involvement o Exemplary character · Work/study grants involve a student’s working on campus approximately 100 hours during the course of the year and are awarded to students in grades 9-12 based on the following criteria o Financial need o Exemplary character o Academic promise Tuition Assistance is made available through grants from: The Carrie Estelle Doheny Foundation Ramona Convent Alumnae Association The Bill Hannon Foundation Ramona Convent Faculty The Von Der Ahe Foundation Ramona Convent National Honor Society The Green Foundation May & Stanley Smith Charitable Trust Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus & Mary Individual Memorials and Scholarships APPLICATION PROCEDURE In keeping with the charism of the Sisters of the Holy Names, most of Ramona’s tuition assistance is allocated to need-based scholarships and work-study grants. In order to qualify for this program, families must demonstrate financial need. Ramona Convent subscribes to the services of Financial Aid for Student Tuition (FAST), an online evaluation company, in order to have a fair and standard method for determining financial need. The need for tuition assistance is not considered as part of the admissions process. |
