RAMONA STUDENT AND GIRL SCOUT GOLD AWARD RECIPIENT RECOGNIZED BY CARDINAL MANNING CENTER

Congratulations to Olivia Virgen '20 whose hard work towards earning a Girl Scout Gold Award was recognized in the Cardinal Manning Center Newsletter. Olivia shared "Homelessness is something you see everywhere you go and it is especially common in Los Angeles. Witnessing the suffering of the people that live on the streets everyday is heart-wrenching. I felt the need to dedicate my Girl Scout Gold Award project to this cause, especially because it is such a huge problem in my community.  Throughout my project I was reminded of how blessed I am and that not everyone is as lucky as I am. I am happy I was able to help in any way I could and hope that the awareness I brought to this problem will inspire others to also get involved." - READ MORE

SNJM YOUTH JUSTICE FORUM

From July 17 - 22, teams of students from the seven schools in the SNJM Network (including Ramona Convent) as well as three other teams from schools administered by SNJMs or closely connected to the SNJMs will gather to probe together the issue of social justice. Participants will learn about the SNJM charism and corporate stands. Students will share their experiences of justice work in their own school community or hometowns and will also have the opportunity to participate in shared service projects. It is hoped that the 5-day experience will be one of solidarity and fellowship among members of the extended SNJM community.

This year's Youth Justice Forum is being held at Holy Names University in Oakland, California. We invite you to join us in praying for open hearts and fruitful friendships during their week together. Ask that they may be given the inspiration to see how they might contribute further to the work of justice upon their return to their little corner of the world!

Thank you to all who have supported the participants in their preparation for this event!

Remember to follow the Youth Justice Forum on Facebook starting July 17!
