God of Love,
Your son, Jesus, is your greatest gift to us.
He is a sign of your love.
Help us walk in that love during the weeks of Advent,
As we wait and prepare for his coming.
We pray in the name of Jesus, our Savior.
Amen.

CARING SCHOOLS INITIATIVE AND MAKING CARING COMMON SURVEY REQUEST

We have again partnered with the Caring Schools Initiative and Making Caring Common, a project at the Harvard Graduate School of Education to promote caring, safe, and respectful schools.

The main goal of this initiative is to learn more about how students, teachers, and parents perceive our school environment and to develop responses to make Ramona an even better place to be.

The survey includes questions about our core values, school climate, safety, bullying, school connectedness, respect for diversity, and caring relationships. This year the survey also includes a section on social media, which is focused on how young people are using social media in constructive ways as well as the guidance they are hearing (or not) from the adults in their lives.

As parents, you are extremely important members of the community, and your thoughts will help us promote safety, caring, and respect. Please help by completing this brief and anonymous survey.  Our students and faculty are also taking an adapted version of the  survey.

Please follow this link to complete the survey. It should take fewer than 10 minutes

For more information about Making Caring Common visit www.makingcaringcommon.org For questions about the survey, contact Ms. Mansell.  Thank you!

FALL CONCERT: MUSIC THAT LIVES

The entire Ramona community is invited to the annual Fall Concert on Friday, December 2, at 7:00 p.m.  Ramona's wonderful musicians will perform a wide variety of repertoire, including a few Christmas tunes!  You won't want to miss performances by our handbell ringers, choir, and Chamber Singers, as they showcase all they have learned during the first semester.

Please join us for a merry evening...one lucky audience member will win a cake, and you'll even be invited to sing along with us. Tickets are available on Ramona's website, or at the door. See you there! Many thanks to all those who helped make our Open House on Saturday such a success.  Besides our faculty and staff who were all present, we are grateful for the parents, students, and alumnae who gave of their time to share the Ramona experience with our many visitors. Prospective families truly felt our Ramona spirit and hospitality!  Click here for a printable flyer.

RAMONA STUDENTS EARN SERVICE AWARDS

Cherry Huang '18 has been awarded a Certificate of Achievement in the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, a nationwide youth volunteer recognition program sponsored by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals.  Her service at the St. Stephen's Parish Food Bank was the beginning of a journey that has expanded to include volunteering at the Guangzhou Cancer Hospital where she assists sick children.  Cherry's application has advanced to state-level judging in the 2017 awards program.

Amihah Chavez '18 and Marie Gatchalian '18 have been recognized with Certificates of Merit from the Prudential Spirit of Community program. Aminah's dedication to the deaf children she's helped at the Almansor Center inspired her to learn American Sign Language to better communicate with them. Marie is recognized for building youth leadership opportunities in her parish through developing a youth liturgy choir.

ALUMNAE VS. VARSITY BASKETBALL GAME

Last Friday, Ramona hosted an exciting basketball game which also served as a mini reunion for some of our alumnae.  Former Ramona athletes who participated were Britney Rojas, Ashley Munguia, Susie Clark, Melissa Silva, Alison Mooney, Jeannette Villalva , Anna Mellado, and Regina Mellado.   Both teams played hard and the alums won the game with a score of 31 - 19.  It was also a great experience for our current players to mingle with the alumnae over a tasty dinner after the game, served by Mrs. Debbie Clarke.  Thank you to all who helped put this awesome event together and to all who participated.  Go Tigers!
