Loving God, you sent your beloved son to dwell among us.  Encourage us during this Advent season to continue in the sharing of this loving presence through our attentiveness, given in prayer and in actions. You, who dwell within us, remind us often to let go of busyness and hurriedness so that we can be present to others.  In this season of shopping and exchanging gifts, remind us that presence is a special kind of present.  Convince us that "being" is as important as "doing!"  Thank you for the gift of your presence among us today and always.

CARING SCHOOLS INITIATIVE AND MAKING CARING COMMON SURVEY REQUEST

Harvard Graduate School of Education highlighted Ramona's Kindness Week in their latest newsletter. It's not too late to participate in this year's survey!  Please follow this link to complete the survey by December 23rd.

HOUR OF CODE

Everyday, more alarm clocks, refrigerators, tools, and toys that are programmable hit the market we are awash in a wave of IOT devices (Internet of things). Even the simplest device is connected and requires experienced programmers to produce. This demand has produced 500,000 current open computer science jobs nationwide (and growing). With this ever expanding field being the only current field where men and women are paid equally, Ramona pauses each year to offer an Hour of Code. This is where students come in to one of our two computer labs and learn the basics of coding through games. This year a total of 118 girls Ramona students participated writing more than 4000 lines of code. If computing is a part of our future, then Ramona students will have the skills to shape it.

PET THERAPY SESSION BRINGS JOY TO STUDENTS

AND FURRY GUESTS

Last Friday during the finals review study sessions, Ramona welcomed four furry friends on campus for pet therapy.  All students were invited to visit the Student Life Center after school to pet and play with Bailey, Rolo, Twix, and Popeye.  Ms. Dumas shared "numerous studies indicate that animal therapy can reduce stress, depression, and anxiety."  This session gave students the opportunity to take advantage of the pet therapy presence and de-stress for a short time.  A few even received some doggy kisses!  Many of the students in attendance asked to have them back more often and we know that the pups would be happy to do it!
