COMEDYSPORTZ NEWS

Ramona's ComedySportz High School League team represented Ramona at GameCon 2 on Saturday, February 11th, at San Marino High School.  GameCon 2 is a winter gathering to which all schools in the High School League are invited. Students gathered for a full day of playing games, learning new ones, and meeting students from other teams (hopefully some of those teams will come play with us at Ramona).

YOUTH DAY & RELIGIOUS EDUCATION CONGRESS INFORMATION

Anyone who is attending Youth Day today with her Parish needs to have a letter from her parish in addition to a letter from her parents.  Please bring both letters to the main office.

Please note that school IS in session on Friday, February 24th.  Only a few of our teachers will be attending the Religious Education Congress. Contrary to popular belief, tomorrow is NOT a day off.

TOWN HALL MEETING

On Saturday many local citizens had to opportunity to attend a town hall meeting in Monterey Park hosted by Congresswomen Judy Chu and Lucile Roybal-Allard.  Besides hearing from the Congresswomen and four health care professionals about the impact of repealing the Affordable Care Act, the public comments' half gave local citizens the opportunity to talk about what the Affordable Care Act has meant to them and what losing it would mean.  Of special interest is the fact that Congresswoman Roybal-Allard is a graduate of Ramona's Class of 1959.

HELPING GIRLS WHO HAVE BEEN TRAFFICKED

As a follow up to our anti- trafficking assembly and our participation in the LA Freedom Walk, the Peace and Justice Society is having a drive to collect items for donation to Saving Innocence, a program which helps children and teens who have been trafficked.  They are victims –- not criminals!  If you would like to help, they need the following items:

Gift cards to any of the following: Forever 21, Rainbow, DD's Discount, Target, Starbucks, Wal-Mart, and any fast food restaurants.

In addition they can use the following clothing items (new and in all sizes): socks, underwear, sports bras, leggings, adult coloring books and pencils or crayons, lip gloss/lip balm, picture frames, and make up kits.

Students may bring these items to Sister Anna's classroom (201).

RECENT COLLEGE ACCEPTANCES

The college preparation and selection process is a personal four-year journey of exploration, self-discovery, hard work, and growth.  The mission of our College Counseling team is to empower our students to prepare for and select the college that's the best fit for them.  They make sure that students have the information and support they need for success.

In recent years, Ramona students have been accepted to more than 135 colleges and universities across the United States, each student finding the school that's the best fit for her.
