RAMONA CHAMBER SINGERS HEAD NORTH AND SHARE THEIR VOICES

Last week, ten of our Ramona Chamber Singers, along with Ms. Ballenger and Ms. Liu, went on tour to Northern California. They shared their wonderful voices with our lovely sister-school, Holy Names High School. Additionally, the choir performed for colleges like Santa Clara University and San Jose State University, where they also participated in choral workshops and observed rehearsals. The clinicians at these workshops gave insightful tips and advice to the students on improving stage performance, modifying vowels, and experimenting with different tempos. We are glad to welcome back the Chamber Singers! See and hear more about their trip on twitter @Ramona_Music!

SPIRIT WEEK RECAP

Last week, Ramona girls showed their spirit by dressing in themed attire each day of the week. The fun-filled week began with Tired Tuesday with the girls snoozing all through the day in their favorite pajamas and continued with traces of gold and white on Pep Rally Wednesday.  All voices were heard in the gym and teams gold and white cheered and yelled when teams students faced off in the seniors last and final Ramona pep rally. From dance battles to team building exercises, the girls enjoyed the fun and competitive atmosphere of the rally.  The tables were turned when students dressed in their manliest outfits for Testosterone Thursday.  Everyone was decked out in green attire on Friday in celebration of St. Patrick's Day. What a fun and festive way to celebrate spirit at Ramona!

OUR LENTEN LESOTHO DRIVE IS UNDERWAY!

The Sisters of the Holy Names have close to 100 sisters in Africa who work in many schools and clinics.  The SNJMs have five high schools in Lesotho.  They also started an HIV project which grows produce and raises animals to help feed hungry people with HIV so their medications work better.  Did you know that over 50% of people in Lesotho live under the poverty line?  Additionally, 1/4 of all men and 1/2 of all women have HIV.  We are asking students to give 1 to 2 dollars (or more!) to our Lesotho Drive during Lent.  All proceeds will go directly to the Sisters of the Holy Names in Africa and their work fighting poverty.
