A Message from Mary E. Mansell, Principal
Our students will be the first to tell you that Ramona is distinctive—a place of high personal and academic standards, sisterhood, inspiring beauty, service that makes a difference, spiritual depth, leadership development, and growth towards independent adulthood.
When the courageous Holy Names sisters who founded Ramona arrived in the Los Angeles area at the end of the nineteenth century, they had deep faith in what was then a radical idea: that young women, created and loved by God, deserved the very best education, one that would develop their full potential, for life.
Today, our students personify the fulfillment of that powerful vision. At graduation, each one is extraordinarily well prepared—spiritually, academically, and emotionally— for college and life.
Because talented teachers and high academic standards help them develop the growth mindsets and habits of scholars, they develop a love of learning and are admitted to and succeed at the best colleges in the country.
Because they are trained in leadership skills through practical experiences in public speaking and leading clubs, sports teams, service projects and retreats, they become resilient, effective leaders characterized by poise, confidence, warmth and wisdom.
Because they develop a global perspective, infused with Catholic, Holy Names values, they become change-making global citizens.
Most importantly, because they learn responsibility, respect, advocacy for themselves and others, and the value of their own spirituality, our Ramona graduates are ready for a full and meaningful life.
We hope you will visit us at our beautiful campus in Alhambra, a suburb of Los Angeles, meet our students and teachers, and experience for yourself the friendly, forward-looking spirit of our community, a place our students think of as their “home away from home,” a place for a truly life-changing and life-affirming education.
