Scholarship Giving
Ramona’s academic excellence is sustained by our ability to enroll the most talented students, many of whom need tuition assistance.
Ramona alumnae have distinguished themselves throughout our long history with the academic excellence, dynamic leadership, and spiritual depth that are hallmarks of a Ramona education. A transformative experience that lasts a lifetime, a Ramona education is one that changes lives. Lives that, in turn, can change the world.
Scholarship giving allows Ramona not only to attract and enroll top-tier students without regard to their families’ financial circumstances, but also furthers the charism and core values of the Sisters of the Holy Names. Recognizing that our excellence and reputation among girls’ schools is due, in large part, to the caliber of students who attend, Ramona’s tuition assistance program is dedicated to meeting the financial needs of the many talented students who apply and to maintain an optimal enrollment. Funded by generous and thoughtful scholarship gifts from alumnae, foundations, parents, alumnae parents, and other friends, Ramona’s tuition assistance program awards over $800,000 annually to deserving students, with nearly half of our student body receiving some aid.
Providing tuition assistance opportunities has always played an important role at Ramona. In the earliest years of Ramona, the Sisters of the Holy Names accepted eggs and bartered services from families to cover the cost of tuition. As Ramona’s reputation as a leader in educating young women grew and spread, generous donors provided funding for scholarships to ensure every qualified young woman who wanted to attend Ramona was able to do so. Thanks to our scholarship donors, thousands of women who would otherwise not have had the opportunity to attend Ramona are now proud graduates, making a difference in their homes, workplaces, communities, and the world.
Donating to a Ramona scholarship fund is much more than a charitable gift – it is an acknowledgement of hard work, perseverance and service to others demonstrated by a young woman with aspirations, ability and compassion. By making a scholarship gift, you will join us and other donors in removing the barriers that economic challenges create for families. Together, we will ensure that promising students will have the financial assistance they need to begin and complete their education at Ramona and leave with the skills and confidence necessary to be successful and independent women.
There are many ways to support scholarships at Ramona. Alumnae can make a gift to the Ramona Convent Alumnae Scholarship Fund, where it will be pooled with gifts from other alumnae to fund annual tuition assistance awards. For those alumnae celebrating a reunion year, you can designate your scholarship gift as a Class Reunion Gift and have it added to those of your classmates. Parents, past parents and other friends of the school can make a gift to the Ramona Convent Scholarship Fund to support annual tuition assistance awards. Gifts to other scholarship funds, such as those named after a loved one or a beloved member of the Ramona family, will be used in accordance to the specific guidelines of that scholarship fund. Simply identify to which fund you would like your gift to go when making your gift online, by mail or over the phone.
If you are in a position to make a positive difference in the life of a young woman, we would be happy to talk to you about establishing an Endowed Scholarship Fund. Such funds establish a perpetual source of scholarship funding and a wonderful legacy for the donor. Endowed scholarship funds can be created at any time.
